Amazing views and location
Beautiful spot within the resort, close access to beach and resort facilities. Short distance to snorkel the wrecks. Comfy apartment, way more spacious than I thought it would be from the photo. Owner and cleaner very friendly and helpful.

About Moreton Island
Moreton Island is the third largest sand island in the world and is situated just 40 kilometres north east of Brisbane. The island is 38 kilometres long and 9 kilometres across at its widest point, and is just a 75 minute ferry ride from Brisbane. The island is 98% National Park, and supports an amazing variety of flora and fauna.
It is also home to the highest coastal sand dune in the world (Mount Tempest, 285 metres) which offers breathtaking 360 degree views from it’s peak.
The clean fresh air, crystal clear water and beautiful sand are just some of the stunning natural features of Moreton Island.
Tangalooma, Queensland
Tangalooma whaling station operated from 1952 until 1962, during which period it harvested and processed 6277 humpback whales.Whaling took place when the humpback whales migrated along the coast in winter, in an eight- to ten-week season during which the processing factory ran 24 hours a day.
The operation was at first very successful, employing a crew of about 140 people, but, in its final years, a collapse in catch levels made it uneconomic to continue.
When the station began whaling, the population of eastern Australian humpbacks was estimated at 10,000; when it ended, the number of whales had been reduced to an estimated 500.
In 1963 the hunting of humpbacks was banned in Australian waters; since then the population has been recovering. Following the closure of the station, it was sold for resort development
